Rhett Aycock- Singer Songwriter / YouTube poem lyric

Hi Everyone,

Looking at YouTube Link, singer songwriter Rhett Aycock's track Anyone But Me: I like how the vocals and guitar come over: it's always a plus when a song comes over stripped down and unplugged with minimal tech used, then it can only go higher improve when the producer/studio develops it (get the basic tune & lyrics right - quality content is essential)

This naturally sparked a piece based on the idea of songs posted on YouTube, why do this, the idea of relasing a song into the "wild" as it were. So here is my poem Lyric. Some general tune was in my head while making the verses and chorus; but in reality the finished version produced by me and the tunewriter would probably vary a little...

YouTube

YouTube clips released,

to tickle ears of listeners, satisfied unknowns.

Guess the internet can’t listen, care for critics groans.

Keep on playing my songs, got the feeling still in my bones.

YouTube, You’re sometimes, the only one there.

You Tube, dumb maybe, still you’ll hear this prayer.

YouTube; I’m posting, for someday out there you’ll care.

Pictures slightly fuzzed up,

but the feelings, from the heart are just right.

From a little darkened room, I sing to the light.

No matter the tech, got the guitar and vocals all right.

YouTube, You’re sometimes, the only one there.

You Tube, dumb maybe, still you’ll hear this prayer.

YouTube; I’m posting, for someday out there you’ll care.

Just exactly who’s listening,

the faces of each of you, I’ll never know.

Gives a morsel of pleasure, then the seed‘ll grow.

Placing nuggets, gifts for unknowns, these I bestow.

YouTube, You’re sometimes, the only one there.

You Tube, dumb maybe, still you’ll hear this prayer.

YouTube; I’m posting, for someday out there you’ll care.

Lyric poems - versions / My new Behance site / Reggae Riddeema, for the H project (taster now online)

Hi and welcome to this month's Blog!

Lyric poems - versions.

Who said you can't re-mix your own poems to make them different? (a bit like in music where there are variations on a theme). The following is an example where a more straight literary level piece is then adapted to a more lyric form with use as a finished song in mind.
Original poem (from: “Sharing a Soft Small Star”)

Ebony Sweet

Against the fluted pillar she leans,

Classical and beauty meet and meld.

Her skin so black.

I see her eyes; she smiles,

Twin rows of pearls me greet.

Ebony girl so sweet.

“Riddim” version:-

Ebony Sweet

Ebony sweet, each day mi greet

so fine.

Ebony sweet, mek mi so complete

so fine.

Ebony sweet, in mi dreams your lips

„gainst mine.

‟Gainst the pillar of the restaurant she lean,

Her beauty meet and meld,

wit the world, supreme.

Her skin so smooth an black.

gimme heart attack.

I lost, I see her eyes;

she smiles,

Twin rows of pearls mi greet,

I know my heart‟s complete,

Ebony girl so sweet,

so sweet.

Ebony sweet, each day mi greet

so fine.

Ebony sweet, mek mi so complete

so fine.

Ebony sweet, in mi dreams your lips

„gainst mine.

After the "eye of the storm" passed as it were, the media 's eye has moved on largely to other matters. But the needs of the people of Haiti are still present  - and will be for some time to come.

This is my gift of a collection specially selected from my poems lyrics; with new Reggae Riddim pieces added, for the Haiti H Project. For more details on LifeStraw NOW! and the LifestrawNOW Coalition, go to:

I'll close with another taster from "Reggae Riddeema", A Loving Sleep, till next time take care...

A Loving Sleep

Sometimes when you are away,

I‟ll snuggle for my naps

with your dressing gown.

I say it keeps me just right,

not too warm or hot.

Yet its softness, and the faint scent

of you and your perfume,

keeps you still here.

Other times we journey

through the night, and I hold you

my driftwood pearl.

Against the nocturne current,

safely close to me.

A loving sleep;

and over us

a billion soft small stars,

In love our bodies, our souls shall keep.

Two dreamers drifting to the dawn,

a loving sleep.

A Valentines Feast: poems lyrics to enjoy

In the run up to the 14th February - Valentines's Day - I thought I'd post a few of my love poems lyrics (new ones).

You Melted into My Heart  (Te amo demais, querida)
In The Final Moment
Happy Happy Valentines'
Don't Love anyone but You

So here they are scroll down to read and enjoy:-

Have a great day on the 14th,
Best wishes, Louis :-)

You Melted into My Heart

(Te amo demais, querida)

You crept upon my chest and melted into my heart

Like a Kitten with your soft endearing cries.

Now I get home every day

to your notes left through my door

just passing, so you left them for my lover’s eyes.

It was in the snowy winter, as you came into my house.

I joked that you were some snow woodpecker,

as you knocked the slush off your boots.

Little then did I know that we were fixed

together to go far.

Its in the smallest moments shared

we’re laying down deep roots.

Now you’re snuggling like a cat

Breaths like gentle purrs

In the night I’ll sometimes wake and then recall

How sometimes the love we get isn’t planned

or shaped to be.

Some things unexpected turn out

to be best of all.

You crept upon my chest and melted into my heart

Like a Kitten with your soft endearing cries.

Now I get home every day

to you opening my door

just loving, for us both time flies.

In The Final Moment

In this final moment

Watching you walk away

I recall all the love and power

We shared in yesterday.

Regrets welling up to the pricking tears

Soon to reach my face.

What if others notice?

Witnessing to beauty lost

Means no disgrace.

In the final footsteps

Reaching down the street.

Comfort lies in thoughts

That while others loved

We were brief yet

Sweetly complete.

In those final words

Heard with pause for silent regrets

I’ll after soothe the loss in moments thinking

Those who’ve never loved live lives

As mere moving silhouettes.

Love has us all as puppets

With joys as random guests.

Happy Happy Valentines’

As I held you in my arms

sweetly surrounded by your charms.

I’m getting those feelings they wrote of

in verses and Solomon’s psalms.

In my eye’s are love’s signs.

But since you haven’t guessed yet

I’ll say it out loud you bet

darling happy, happy Valentines’.

Sent roses fourteen to your door

just a few for now, then I’ll send more.

With notes and candy in baskets,

so you know for certain the score.

But maybe in case, you think it’s all lines.

I’ll say it out loud you bet

darling happy, happy Valentines’.

Bought jewels from London, sparkles from Cartier,

But what use are jewels if love and the heart isn’t there?

You can’t buy some love with a chequebook

so don’t try it, for you’ll despair.

For jewels ain’t so dandy, without words love declines

So I’ll say it out loud you bet

darling happy, happy Valentines’.

Happy, happy Valentines’!

Don’t Love Anyone but You

Some say I love music

Can play a tune or two

Some say notes delight me

Whether Jazz or Blues

People have opinions

Freely given out

Only I know if it’s true

Certain without doubt

I don’t love any one,

Don’t love anyone but you.

Stick to this, you’ll never miss,

All the love I have for you.

Some say I love writing lines

Can pen poems anytime

Some say verse delights me

Whether free or rhymes

People getting notions

Sharing with their friends

Only I know exactly

Which way the river bends

I don’t love any one,

Don’t love anyone but you.

Stick to this, you’ll never miss,

All the love I have for you.

Dialect, is it valid in poetry or lyrics? Cable Blues - The Versions. Gospel Piano DVD by Noval Smith

Looking at the Project H website, musicians working together, thank you Chris Hill,
the following lyrics "popped" out onto the paper. Is this authentic? Probably not, but I'm simply trying to get the feel of the rhythm, style here as far as I can. Dialect words were used by Rabby Burns and in popular folk songs etc, so if done respectfully then it's OK. Dialect is really a local language.  Here's a taste.(xtract)...

Perfec’ Love

I’m talkin now 'bout perfec’ love,

the kind that tingles and lasts.

No overnight or a brief affair,

like a fisherman, back he casts.

I’s always seekin a perfec’ love

alway kind that smarts yet smooth

You gi me that in special way

ev’ry day ev’ry night you prove.

You gi me that in special way

ev’ry day ev’ry night you prove.

Mi friend you can lose, lose your perfec’ love

by no paying attention.

So gi her kisses an hugs an smiles and rings,

that’s the way to ensure retention.

So gi her kisses an hugs an smiles and rings,

that’s the way to ensure retention....

There is Something

There is something about the ways you have

keeps leading, leading me through.

There is something about the days we share

keeps leading, leading us two.

There is something about the love you give

keeps leaving, leaving me wanting more.

There is something about your face my love

keeps me looking, looking over and o’er.

Just that something,

yeah, just that something.

You’re giving, I keep living,

on for more and more.

Just that something,

yeah, just that something.

Come now sweetness,

taste completeness,

more and more...

had some probs with his mobile (cell) lately, so I wrote some lyrics with him in mind. Later his partner requested a "response" one - like they used to do way back (I'm recalling now a Country & Western Classic "Dear John", followed by the girls reponse track "Dear John I Don't Love you)

Here's a taste of them both (xtracts)...

Phone Cable Guy Blues

Seems my phone and cell are fine

No problems with the line

All the techno’s fine and crystal clear.

In spite of repeated calls

My cable guy never comes to fix, just stalls.

Well at least If you don’t arrive

You can’t then down tools, quit and disappear.

Phone cable guy Blues

No matter which service provider you choose

One thing sticks to them all that’s clear.

They say they’ll be with you Tuesday

I’m uncertain of the year...

Phone Cable Gal Blues

My cell and phone are fine

Keeps getting better like vintage wine

With Cable Gal, I’ve no reasons for worry or fear.

For she’ll come before I call

It’s like mystic powers

Some supernatural recall.

She knows just what and how before its clear.

Phone cable gal Blues

No matter what the problem is you can’t lose

So worry no more.

Before the cable crashes,

She’s driving through the rain and splashes

To my door...

On "riddim" Reggae

Just the other day Wesley P - an arts colleague - remarked that:

"a fence always brightens an otherwise uncluttered horizon or am I 2 prosaic?" referring to the fact he likes the urban more than the country.

Which lead to a Dub version, based on WesleyP's phrase:

Fence alway brightening, a lovely view

Flowers upsettin mi stomach

just the pavements will do.

Keep it urbin, cuz tha countryside disturbin'

Keep it urbin, wear my raybans day and night.

Horizon stretchin, sky far too big

Wit tha prozac and prosaic

More tha kind o' my gig

I was wandring through tha field after drinking late last night

When I was jumped by a jack rabbit

Its fur n big teeth , a horror and a sight

Save mi right for taking a short cut through tha country at night

Still some comfort mi tek, from this will ease'l

Were simply a jack rabbit

Not a ferret or a weasel.

Keep it urbin, cuz tha countryside disturbin'

Keep it urbin, countryside gi mi a such a fright!

Sly & Robbie can sleep soundly! No challenge. :-) lol L

Latest poems lyrics...
Results of Billboard World Song Contest to come in around February time  - maybe my entries in the Jazz (a  Ballad) or R & B categories will hit the spot?

Since my last Blog, about 6 or 7 new poems lyrics; some humorous in nature
Keep on keeping Above Ground ( to support all post Flu battlers) and I Loved You More Than That (about adopting a small black kitten  that then grew into something a bit larger... extracts follow.  Till next time keep safe.

Keep on keeping above ground!

When plan A is shot down in flames

It’s the end, or seeming so, of all your plans and games.

No more airy castles, schemes or grand designs

Just blueprints burned and exit signs.

Leaves you choked, you can barely say a word.

But we’re all still here above ground

While the good Lord tends us from above.

Should we dwell on things now snuffed?

Or on much cheerier stuff?

I know which I prefer,

It’s the thoughts that lead to love.

...To conclude I’ll set the mood

And prevent us all having a good brood.

Simply keep on keeping above ground

That’s the art

...

Keep on keeping above ground

Don’t lose heart

Keep on keeping above ground!

I Loved You More Than That (For Gojira)

I found you in the rain on my drive

All black and sodden mewling.

Eyes blinking in that helpless way

That dictates what I did next.

I dried you and fed you from the bottle

Milk like a mother.

Perhaps I could have left you in the windy storm,

But I loved you more than that.

So tiny wee when first we met,

But you grew, and how!

From Kitten to more dog in scale than cat.

Others said: “Too big, get rid”,

While I, I didn’t know what to think,

But I loved you more than that.

....I stroked you for a last time, then watched as you went free,

To roam wherever, as I returned to my static home.

I could have had you adopted by some Zoo

For a Panther is not really a cat.

But in love I set you free,

Although I’ll never know the end, the final chapter of the story,

For I loved you more than that.

Now on Kindle: Blues Hung Up to Dry, Brand New Highway Stretching On. Your Festive Blessing.

After a great deal of work - editing etc- the Blues poems lyrics books are now on Kindle. Looking through them last night, I feel a great affinity for them, more so than the previous love collections - but then to quote a line from another of my poems "I defend all my children" (nothing wrong with romantic poems) so it's most likely a matter of different subjects/ styles to suit the poems lyrics that come out.

Still struggling with Kindle's ways. As an automated publishing system it can do strange things to your format, hence the cover pic on one of the books got slightly "clipped" but I can only do my best. (I'd need more knowledge of editing HTML to sort it out better)

At least I fixed the issue of a relatively short book of poems lyrics, only giving a taster of two or three poems. By moving the index of lines, about the Author, and foreword to the back of the books, I "forced" the Kindle software to include more poems lyrics in the FREE sample pages (about 10% of the total contents) I you are publishing novels via Kindle you will not have the issue I'm talking about- since your novel likely to be way more lengthy than my poems lyrics anthologies.
Will it lead to any sales? We'll see...

In the books I acknowledge the support given by Ernie Ball Music Man in letting my post my poems lyircis on their Forum. Strangely enough - just pure coincidence - one of the anthologies has it's ident number including Bongo - a bass made by music man and the one I play myself. (Brand New Highway Stretching On, ASIN: B004GB0NG0  !!)

Hoping to recover from a bad cold in time for the festive season, there's a lot of this going around in Winter.

If you 've read this far - thank you - then here's a poem for a festive blessing, text size increased to aid the reading . All the best, Louis:-

The Affirmations

No sun can set, yet leaves * better wise.

Or smile when seen,

Can fail to light *’s eyes.

The winds may chill, as from the trees fall leaves.

But still the green spring comes,

*’s hope believes.

Life’s stone’s disturb the pool, reflections concealed.

Soon smoothed,

The returned beauty is revealed.

When life’s way dims and pleasures seem in dearth;

Friends hands will bear * up,

To resolve’s birth.

Keep these lines * around you, may they mean;

These affirmations close by,

Read and often seen.

For what we think and dwell on, oft it’s said;

Sets scripts for life,

Our feet follow our head.

NB: Replace and insert your name where * appears to unlock the inner blessing of these lines.
